Shillong boasts numerous tourist spots, but today we’re going to tell you about a place called Elephant Falls. This waterfall is located just 12 kilometers away from this station  and is a mere half-hour drive. If you ever visit this place, the entry ticket costs INR 100. Exploring Elephant Falls will take you around 1 to 1.5 hours. 

The unique aspect of this waterfall is that it consists of three separate cascades, forming three distinct steps within the same waterfall. Adjacent to this waterfall, you’ll find an amusement park. If you’re accompanied by children, they will also enjoy the boat rides and various amusement park activities. The natural beauty of this place can be thoroughly enjoyed, and the locals have maintained it in such a way that anyone visiting can have a great time.

The entry ticket for Elephant Falls costs INR 20, and the opening hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The best time to visit is from July to September. Ward Lake

We are now going to tell you about another best place in Shillong that you might like. So, starting with our second best place  is called Ward’s Lake. People familiar with Shillong would know that this is a wonderful place. But for those who are planning a trip to Shillong, Ward’s Lake can be quite beneficial. It is situated in the heart of Shillong and is considered one of the famous tourist attractions of Shillong.

It is believed to be around 100 years old or more, dating back to the time of the British. Its beauty speaks for itself. Ward’s Lake was constructed during the time of Chief Commissioner of Assam, Sir William Ward, in the year 1894. It is said that the area surrounding this lake was built by Khasi prisoners. Ward’s Lake offers boating facilities, rides for children, a place for them to play, wooden bridges, and many other facilities.

Ward’s Lake is situated in a horseshoe-shaped area, and there is no entry fee to come here. The nearest railway station to Ward Lake is “Guwahati Railway Station”. The nearest major airport to Ward Lake is known as “Umroi Airport”.

 

Shillong Viewpoint

Now we are going to take you to the third best place, of Shillong. If you’re considering a trip to Shillong, you’ll love this place. So, let’s start with the third best place, Shillong View Point. Shillong View Point is located about 13 km from Shillong and is situated on the outskirts. It’s a vantage point  that offers a panoramic view of the entire city. 

This viewpoint is located at an altitude of approximately 1965 meters above sea level and provides a 360-degree view of whole city. Furthermore, from here, you’ll get to see various waterfalls and the Himalayan ranges. It is said that on a clear day, you can even see Bangladesh from here.  shillong  View Point features a tall tower with telescopes that allow you to enjoy the stunning vistas. Some historians believe that Shillong got its name from the hills surrounding the Shillong View Point.

For those interested in witnessing beautiful vistas and for all nature lovers, this place is highly recommended. The entrance fee for Shillong View Point is 30 rupees. If you come here by your own vehicle, you’ll also need to pay for parking, which costs an additional 30 rupees. The timings to visit Shillong View Point are from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and the place remains closed on Wednesdays.

It is situated approximately 104 kilometers away from Shillong ,The nearest airport to the Shillong View Point is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, also known as Guwahati Airport. It is located about 124 kilometers away from Shillong.

 

Laitlum Grand Canyon

Now we’re going to talk about the very last place that you shouldn’t miss if you ever visit Lewduh It’s called the Laitlum Grand Canyon. This place is located in the Khasi Hills, and you must not miss it if you’re a nature lover and enjoy taking photos with nature. The name “Laitlum Grand Canyon” translates to “end of the hills” or “end of the world.”

 This is the best spot in the Khasi Hills and offers a breathtaking view of the hills. It’s situated 1565 meters above sea level. While the canyon is open all day, the best time to visit is early morning. During this time, there are fewer clouds, and you can clearly witness the beauty of this place.

If you’re into photography and love taking selfies, this place is perfect for you. There’s no entry fee to visit, and you can enter for free. Exploring this location might take at least an hour.
